In 1990 John Thomson purchased CHANTAL from Victoria Marine, and on the 22 December 1990 he became a member of the Association.  At that time John lived at West Wittering, West Sussex, and it is suspected that she was moored somewhere in Chichester Harbour.  Unfortunately John is no longer with us, but a surviving relative has offered the Association a model of CHANTAL.

It is understood that John Thomson subsequently sold CHANTAL to a purchaser from Europe.  However extensive research by Peter Cosker has failed to identify her current location.  At some stage CHANTAL was sold to Mr and Mrs Derek Smith from Chelmondiston in Suffolk, and then again to Mr Charles Wilson and Ms Ann Calver.  One of these sales initiated the following website entry at http://www.frances26.org/chantal.php and appears to show her berthed on the East Coast.

The model of CHANTAL will be on display at the Association’s 25th Anniversary Luncheon at Warsash Sailing Club, at which time it is proposed to conduct an auction to enable the model to be reunited with her full size version, and current owner.  If the new owner, or any other interested member of the Association would wish to bid for the model, but is unable to attend the Luncheon, then sealed bids can be sent to Jon Spencer, Chairman Yachts, 51B Newtown Road, Warsash, Hampshire, SO31 9FY, and they will be taken into consideration during the auction.
