New Bimini
Dear Members,
I own a Frances 34 (Pippin) and Im looking for a new Bimini hopefully with solar attachments. Ive found a company in Chichester who seam Ok, but they don't have any measurements on record for a Frances cockpit. Im in Glasgow so not so great to pop down to measure up.
Two things:
Can anyone recommend a Bimini supplier /maker in Scotland? Preferably the west side.
Or
Does anyone have a Victoria or Frances in the Chichester area that they could measure? They said between Brighton and Lymington but the head office is in Chichester. CJ Marine.
As I understand it, the aft end of a Victoria 34 cockpit is the same as my Frances, it’s the front of the cockpit that is smaller due the Pilot House. About 10 inches.
My phone number and email is in the members handbook.
Regards,
Keith Walker.

Re: New Bimini
Hi Keith,
Although I haven't had a bimini made I have had a recent cockpit tent made for my V34. I'm based on the Clyde and used Saturn at Largs for this. They did a really good job of both the new s/s supports and the canvas work. The contact was Greg Pitt at Saturn (greg@saturnsails.co.uk; 01475 689933). Downside is they are not the cheapest!
The other sailmaker I use regularly is Murray Caldwell (MC Sails over at Rosneath). Murray is more reasonably priced and is really helpful and very good as well. He would be worth a call and if he thinks it isn't something he can do he will say so. (murray@mcsails.co.uk; 07940 729377).
happy to chat about this if that would help.
Regards
Alastair

Re: New Bimini
I'm sure between Murray and Karen they'll get this sorted out for you. I used to keep my boat, Kaya, at Silvers for many years so know it well. Murray still looks after my sails so I'm back and forward to Rosneath twice a year for the drop off and pick up!

Hi Keith,
Good to have met up with you in Croabh last summer.
If you are not already sorted for your bimini, CC&B at Fairley Quay have recently done some work for me.
Contact: Sheila via info@ccandb.co.uk They also advertise at local marinas.
Best Wishes
Chris,

Re: New Bimini
Hi Keith - looks like you have comprehensive answers to your query and may i add one more option.
Last season I had my V30 sprayhood remade using Sabre Sails, Cardiff - they advertise on ebay also. Their MO is for the old sprayhood/cover to be sent in and they will remake using the old as a template. I guess they make some judgements on sizing to compensate for age and stretch etc. My new sprayhood looks fabulous and am very pleased with the results. The cost of the hood was only £350 - which is quite remarkable given that South Coast suppliers were quoting ca. £1700 to remake the same.
Hope this useful - best wishes
Andrew
