Victoria 34 Shower Drain and Pump
Hi
Im a brand new member, glad to be part of the VSA.
I am also the new owner of a 1988 Victoria 34. I had been told that the shower drain pump had been disconnected as the previous owner never used it. However, I have since discovered that there is no sign of a pump or any pipework or sump and the drain outlet from the tray has been sealed with epoxy filler. I am trying to solve the mystery as to what should have been there so I can reinstate it.
Can anyone shed any light on what the original configuration might have been?
Thanks
Rob

Re: Victoria 34 Shower Drain and Pump
Hi Rob.
Welcome to the VSA. When you get some time, tell us a bit about your V34.
The shower drain pump should be located just behind the head's bulkhead on the port side underneath the seat/locker.
The piping that connects to the shower basin drain is inaccessible with the piping routed though the bulkhead aft to the pump mentioned above.
I could take a few photos and add these to this thread if it would be of any help.
Kind regards.
Charlie.

Re: Victoria 34 Shower Drain and Pump
Hi Charlie
Thanks for your reply. Yes, a few photos would be very helpful if it’s no trouble. Could you also shed light on where the water was pumped to, and ultimately where it was/is discharged from the boat please?
My boat is sloop rigged, in-mast main sail furling and was very well looked after by her previous owner. I have been bringing her electronics and power generation and storage up to date together with pretty much all the running and some standing rigging. Ive also had a remote engine start/stop solenoid fitted in the cockpit for ease for single/short handed sailing.
Cheers and thanks again

Re: Victoria 34 Shower Drain and Pump
Hi Rob.
It will be the weekend before I get up to the boat again and can take some photos then.
The shower waste is pumped out from within the heads area above the waterline.
Photos will help.
Will be in touch.
Kind regards,
Charlie.

Re: Victoria 34 Shower Drain and Pump
Hi Rob,
I have emailed these following pictures, but including them here in case they may be of interest/help to others.
My V34 (Anitra) was built in 1990 and this shower pump installation is the same as that installed in my friend's (William McCausland) V34 (Samphire).
Any further questions, please let me know.

Re: Victoria 34 Shower Drain and Pump
Is this Pintail ?
I had a survey done on this in September. Unfortunately the owner at the time disregarded the findings and we were unable to conclude the deal. If you are the new owner I’m happy to share the survey with you.
Regards
John

Re: Victoria 34 Shower Drain and Pump
Hello Rob,
Welcome aboard. Charles Grossie's photos show a similar layout to mine on Triptych in the saloon locker just aft of the heads. The other locker was just forward of the heads and looks a bit different. We will be going to the boat Saturday or Sunday and I can then give you the definitive answer to my layout. In the meantime, I'll look out for some photos I may have on file.
The leaks I found under the shower stray may be nothing to do with the plumbing but a deck leak that found it way down between the panels forming the forward bulkhead of the heads. I have that covered pending better weather and a repair.
Yours Don

Re: Victoria 34 Shower Drain and Pump
Thanks Don. Sorry about the long time to respond but I really appreciate your time and comments.
I have spoken to a couple contractors i know and we have a solution to reinstate the original set up. I’d like to get to as near to the original as possible.
Thanks again

Re: Victoria 34 Shower Drain and Pump
Installation all completed new pump and pipework fitted, the tray had to be adapted to drain to the new outlet.
It works a treat and the last job in the re-fit.
