Victoria 30 Mainsail gate replacement
Dear All
On my Vic 30 mast there is or rather was a piece of metal and a wing nut which kept the mainsail sliders from coming out when the sail was let down.
Unfortunately one of my sailors managed to pitch this into the water and it is no more.
Does anyone know
1 What is it called?
2 What does it look like....if I need to craft a home made replacement?
3 The size of the bolt?
4 Any brilliant suggestions for alternatives?
Thank you in advance
Jonathan

Re: Victoria 30 Mainsail gate replacement
1/ Mast Gate for (presumably) a Proctor mast (got bought out by Selden some years ago)
2/ Have a look at the photos on post 5 of this thread: https://forums.ybw.com/index.php?thread … te.365161/ Note - the bolt arrangement in those photos are not original.
3/ Good question. Somebody said it was the same as on a camera tripod, but I havn't checked this! If I work it out I'll let you know.
4/ Might be worth a call to somebody like Allspars to see if anyone has one tucked away in a corner, or maybe Boatscrapyard.
If it isn't a Proctor mast then chances are spares will be available.
Hope this helps.

Re: Victoria 30 Mainsail gate replacement
Thank you for the replies and suggestions. I am now half way there and have sourced the bolt/wing nut attachment. I think with the photos I can make or have made an adequate metal gate.
Thank you all again
