Hi Bill,
The article filed here may answer some of your questions.

Have you seen Chuck Paine's book "The Boats I've Loved"?

Thanks.
Charlie.

Re: Frances 26 and a V 800
Hi and thanks Charles,
So if I understand things correctly, a Victoria “Frances 26” has a short coach roof, and a “Victoria 26”, aka “Victoria 800”, has a long coach roof ? This came up when a photo of two boats with long coach roofs, were described as being Frances 26s in a Facebook page.
I have read parts of Chuck Paine’s book, but have not yet seen a paper copy.

Re: Frances 26 and a V 800
Bill - if I am looking at the correct post, it is currently marked as '2 Victoria 26s', which is probably correct. The 800 followed on from the Victoria 26 with various tweeks, as said by Mo in that FB thread.
All 3 models - Frances 26, Victoria 26 and Victoria 26 were available with various rigs, including bowsprit cutters, so rig is no necessarily defining feature of any model. Having said that, I can't recall seeing a sloop 800, and most of the Victoria 26's I have seen have been sloops, but not all.

The Vic 800 has a different layout to the Vic 26. The heads is astern to starboard, the Vic 26 is midships. I believe tweaks were also made to the deck moulding.
