Login "stickiness" and deleting own posts

Two issues with the forum were brought up in today's AGM.

Login "stickiness"

People noted the forum logs them out, even when "remember me" is ticked. I've bumped the duration on this tickbox to last for a year. Please email web@ if you're finding that your login to the forum expires in less time than that. Please do one log-out and log-in cycle before reporting issues, as it may take a fresh login for the updated cookie expiry date to take effect.

Deleting own posts / topics.

It was reported that someone couldn't delete their own, no longer relevant, topic. While posts could be deleted, the tickbox to allow topic deletion wasn't ticked in the admin panel. This has now been ticked and tested. If you delete a topic you have created, all replies will also be deleted.

Glossary - topic = what happens when you click "post new topic" at the top right of any forum. Post = a reply to any topic.

Bonny Flighty is a Victoria 26 which is a small, long keeled offshore cruiser. She was built in 1985, moulded by Northshore and fitted out by Rampart Marine. She has a white GRP hull with style stripes.

Long keel with lead ballast
Self draining cock pit
Tiller steering to keel hung rudder
She is easily handled

My father bought her in 2017 but sadly has never really been sailing in her only getting out a handful of times and he is now too unwell to do so. See PDF for supply/fit, maintenance works.

Hi Chris,
I had exactly the same dilemma on Inyoni, my Frances 26. Here is what I did, hopefully t will give you some ideas.
First I changed to an end of boom mainsheet set up. To do this, I added to extra, aft angled legs to the pushpit, and a cross over tube as a traveller. The mainsheet block is attached to this by means of a wrapped Dynema soft shackle.
The forward end of “sailing awning”, as I call it, is attached to to dodger using a zipper. The after edge is supported on a hinged SS bow which is supported on the pushpit, and tensioned by simple line tackles. There are also two zippered side panels. If you look at the Chuck Oaine Facebook page, you can see some photos. In June I helped a friend deliver his Victoria 800 from Plymouth to Portugal and once South of Lisbon we got fried!

Victoria 30 For Sale

Our sloop rigged Victoria 30, Wynn, is for sale. She was built in 1991/92 and is currently in co-ownership with two owners, one of whom has taken care of her for the last 29 years. She has been constantly maintained and upgraded throughout this time and is in excellent condition for her age throughout. The most recent upgrades include new standing rigging (2024), new mainsail cover and lazy jack system (2024), new diesel cabin heater (2024), new furling 127% genoa (2023), new 4 man canister life raft (2023) and a new spray hood (2022).
A full survey was carried out in 2023 with only a few minor issues noted, all of which have been attended to.

She is now lying afloat in Birdham Pool Marina, Chichester awaiting a new owner to take her on many more adventures.

Asking price now reduced to: £29,950

Forum access changes

At the last two committee meetings, a discussion was had about the general open access to most of the content in the forums. After much spirited debate about open access versus closed access, benefits of Association membership, etcetera, the Committee concluded that the Association should make the majority of the forum content available to Association members, not the whole population of the Internet.

As such, as of the date of this posting, several of the sub-forums have had Guest read access removed; if the list of sub-forums seems very sparse, please make sure you're logged in. All non-public forums will be visible under the "Members Only" section once you are logged in.
