Our Trophies

The Victoria Cup

Originally presented by Victoria Marine, the Victoria Cup is awarded annually by the Island Sailing Club to the winning Victoria Yacht, on corrected time, in The Round The Island Race.

The refurbished Victoria Cup

The top panel reads:

ROUND THE ISLAND RACE

PRESENTED BY
VICTORIA MARINE

The trophy was first awarded in 1991, the year our Association was founded, and winners' names were engraved on individual plaques; one for each year. In 2008, it was discovered that there was no longer any space to add a further individual plaque. The trophy was also looking a little 'tired'. A decision was made to refurbish the trophy and to summarise the past winners onto two larger plaques. We are greatly indebted to Jerry Bottrill, who supervised the work and is also the author of the photographs of the Victoria Cup you see on this page.

The Best Log Cup

The Best Log Cup, which has also been described as the Victoria II Cup, was presented to the Victoria Shadow Association by Tim Gearing of Classic Marine International Limited. Tim is also the owner of some of the original Victoria and Frances moulds from which the boats were laid up, prior to being fitted-out.

The Best Log Cup

The engraving reads:

THE BEST LOG

THE BEST LOG RECORD OF A MEMBER'S CRUISE

The Cup was first awarded in 2004 and is presented for the Best Log which is forwarded to the judging panel at the end of each season. To date Barrie Marson and Olive Hathaway have judged all entries, and from 2013 Anne Grubb is joining the judging panel.
