Copper Cream

When 'Jenter' visited the Tidemill Yacht Harbour at Woodbridge on the River Deben, we were given a berth just a little further into the marina than a fine looking Victoria 34.

It was only when I walked down the central peninsula between the north and south basins that I managed to make out the name, which I recognised immediately. 'Copper Cream' was owned from new by Ted and Kitty Moss with Ted being our association's Chairman - Yachting for many years.

Eventually I saw her present owner, Richard Pannell, about to board and introduced myself. Richard joined me aboard 'Jenter', while I explained what little I knew of Copper Cream's history. Richard then invited me aboard her and found some original documents with the name Edward Moss on them. Richard had not bought the boat directly from Ted but there had been another owner, for a short period, after Ted had sold her.

I soon learnt that Richard lives in Nottingham, which is about as far from the sea as you can get in England. The berth in the Tidemill Yacht Harbour was his regular berth, although he also has another mooring out on the river.

After an inspection of Copper Cream's cabin, which was in fine condition, we parted and I promised to send Richard further details of the association once I had returned home.
