CLARA Naarden

 

	'Clara' is moored in the 'Naarden' marina, which is situated close to the city of Naarden, with direct entrance to the Gooimeer and only 2,5 miles away from the Markermeer (the southern part of the IJsselmeer).     As for my sailing, it's mostly day trips on the Markermeer, solo or with friends.

I also take part, with my brother as crew, in the so called Wednesday night competition, a series of 21 short (about 1,5 hour) races around the cans.   Longer trips are made about twice a year, mainly to the Waddenzee (where this year I happened to meet John Cade at Texel) and the Dutch and Belgian coast.   Besides I've taken part a couple of times in a 50 mile solo race on the Markermeer, and once made it to the second place, and the last eleven years sailed the so called '24-hours'..   This '24-hours' is a very interesting event, with about 700 competitors, in which a choice has to be made out of a number of set legs in order to sail as many miles as possible in 24 hours.
