I have owned Fanny for just over
a year now having bought her from Jim Kirby. I retired from
Dorset Police in 2004 and found myself able to buy a sailing
cruiser, something I had been planning for a long time. I saw a
Frances 26 a few years ago and set my heart on owning one.
Everything fell into place when I found Fanny for sale locally.
Jim had looked after her fastidiously and I had very little to
do to her except a little cosmetic attention. As a member of
Poole Yacht Club I was fortunate to obtain a pontoon berth in
the club haven which is a very convenient arrangement.
I am a keen dinghy sailor, racing a GP14 at
Poole Yacht Club. My wife, Ann, is still working as a teacher.
She is not a keen sailor (complains of the cold!) however she
quite enjoys the social side of things and we have spent our
last three summer holidays sailing in the Med.
Apart
from numerous day sails in and around Poole
Harbour I have only taken Fanny for one cruise with my
son and his friend last September to Yarmouth,
Cowes,
Portsmouth and Beaulieu, which was a bit of an adventure. I look
forward to doing some more extensive cruising this year and hope
to join in with the Association rallies. |
